To Write Love on Her Arms at Kiwanis

We were fortunate to have Jamie Harthoor and Keegan Strabala come to breakfast this morning to share their group, To Write Love on Her Arms UNI (TWLOHA-UNI). TWLOHA is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

Jamie Harthoorn is the president of the UNI TWLOHA organization and she told us of their weekly meetings on Mondays at 9:00 PM. They are trying to build a support community for people who have problems with their lives. They aren't doctors or certified counselors, but they work to be available to talk with people and refer them to counseling and support resources as they need them.

The reason that I invited TWLOHA to share in our meeting was because this is an organization that works with life-changing problems. While they meet face-to-face weekly, one of the organization's strengths is that it available on-line, face-to-face, over the phone or any way that they need to connect with people who need help. This group is making a difference in the world (or at least the worlds of those in need of help) and they work to support organizations who provide support.  They say that when they sell t-shirts, their proceeds all go to the Pathways Behavioral Services counseling center in Waterloo.

They shared a video newscast that explained the background of TWLOHA.

To Write Love On Her Arms UNI has their own FaceBook group. If you are interested in getting involved, check their group to get the latest information about the group.
