Chief Olson Tells the Story Behind Public Safety Officers
Wednesday, January 9 - Jeff Olson, Director of the Cedar Falls Public Safety Services (includes City Police and Fire Protection), trumpeted the advantages of both departments being cross-trained as highly skilled professionals for either role when in demand. This in effect doubles personnel coverage without adding strains to the already "stretched to the limit" city payrolls. Jeff emphasized the accomplishments and goals with real-life scenarios that happened recently within the city confines. Jeff said this is a slow process with a steep learning curve as they sort through the weak spots, but in the end will benefit the community as a whole and lead to a better quality of life for everyone.
